holidays, thanksgiving, macys, santa, parade, gift, toys,

After a long  Thanksgiving Day weekend Monday Monday was here again, and that only meant that it was time  for us to go back to work.

I don’t consider what I do as work at all.  To me it’s a passion, and the reasons to wait for the present called life  every morning.

Its  another day to give thanks,  to un wrap my day with hope, and to give hope to others.

since my fathers passing the holidays are not the same for me .

this year was  quiet and some what low key, but we are always thankful for all the blessings of the year.

It’s a family tradition to always watch the Macys Thanksgiving Day parade at our home.

every year I   feel like a child experiencing the amazing things of the parade like it’s the first time.

The best part of the parade is seeing  santa coming down the famous Herald square with his reindeers.

His jolly arrival  in the parade  officially  brings  in the holiday season in New York, and for the world.

The holidays  seems to    fill the peoples hearts with joy

And the kids are waiting for santa to bring them the toys.

Its time to make the egg nog and hang the mistletoe.

Time to sing the famous carols  and wish for some Christmas snow.

So blessed to be born in December

It’s the best time to create new memories and to remember.

This is my favorite time of the year.

Hey! Its December  lets spread some holiday cheer!

Share a smile today.

The Old-Fashioned Thanksgiving

It may be I am getting old and like too much to dwell

Upon the days of bygone years, the days I loved so well;

But thinking of them now I wish somehow that I could know

A simple old Thanksgiving Day, like those of long ago,

When all the family gathered round a table richly spread,

With little Jamie at the foot and grandpa at the head,

The youngest of us all to greet the oldest with a smile,

With mother running in and out and laughing all the while.

It may be I'm old-fashioned, but it seems to me to-day

We're too much bent on having fun to take the time to pray;

Each little family grows up with fashions of its own;

It lives within a world itself and wants to be alone.

It has its special pleasures, its circle, too, of friends;

There are no get-together days; each one his journey wends,

Pursuing what he likes the best in his particular way,

Letting the others do the same upon Thanksgiving Day.

I like the olden way the best, when relatives were glad

To meet the way they used to do when I was but a lad;

The old home was a rendezvous for all our kith and kin,

And whether living far or near they all came trooping in

With shouts of "Hello, daddy!" as they fairly stormed the place

And made a rush for mother, who would stop to wipe her face

Upon her gingham apron before she kissed them all,

Hugging them proudly to her breast, the grownups and the small.

Then laughter rang throughout the home, and, Oh, the jokes they told;

From Boston, Frank brought new ones, but father sprang the old;

All afternoon we chatted, telling what we hoped to do,

The struggles we were making and the hardships we'd gone through;

We gathered round the fireside. How fast the hours would fly--

It seemed before we'd settled down 'twas time to say good-bye.

Those were the glad Thanksgivings, the old-time families knew

When relatives could still be friends and every heart was true.

Lets take a moment to give thanks

Tomorrow is Thanksgiving day.

Heres a few words I would like to share with you today!

I have so much to be thankful this year,

I always give thanks to my wonderful mom that I still have near.

There is never a moment that I don’t have my father on my mind,

My daddy your in my thoughts every minute of my life.

So I always give thanks for my special angel that watches me from above,

I am also thankful for all my family, and good friends that show me love.

I am a cancer survivor and I give thanks for each day,

Making every moment count Never letting my day waste away.

Always give thanks  for what you have, and bless others,

In Gods eyes we are his family,

We are sisters and brothers.

The word thanks is very simple to say,

And the spirit of giving will bless you everyday.

I am so thankful for all your attention, and taking the time to read my blog.

I want to wish you and yours a happy Thanksgiving .  Lets also remember, and pray for our soldiers holding down the post for our freedom.

Enjoy the holidays, and thanks for letting me be a part of your life.

Hey! The countdown is on…

Theres only three more days until Thanksgiving.  Are we all ready for the big day? Well I certainly am. I so love this time of the year.

Top 10 Turkey Tips

Guidelines for tackling the big bird

Whether you're tackling a Thanksgiving turkey for the first or hundredth time, our

top 10 tips will ensure your big bird is the best it can be.

1. Thawing a frozen turkey requires patience. The safest method is to thaw turkey

in the refrigerator. Be sure to plan ahead — it takes approximately 3 days for a

20 pound turkey to fully defrost.

2. For crisper skin, unwrap the turkey the day before roasting and leave it uncovered

in the refrigerator overnight.

3. Cooking times will differ depending on whether your bird was purchased fresh or

frozen. Plan on 20 minutes per pound in a 350 degree F oven for a defrosted turkey

and 10 to 15 minutes per pound for fresh.

4. A turkey will cook more evenly if it is not densely stuffed. Consider adding flavor

by loosely filling the cavity with aromatic vegetables — carrots, celery, onion or

garlic work nicely — or by carefully tucking fresh herbs underneath the breast skin.

For the stuffing lovers, cook the dressing in a casserole dish on the side.

5. For even roasting, truss your turkey.

6. Before roasting, coat the outside of the turkey with vegetable or olive oil, season

with salt and pepper and tightly cover the breast with aluminum foil to prevent over-browning

(it will be removed in step 7).

7. Don't be a peeping tom (no pun intended)! Once you get the turkey in the oven,

resist the temptation to open the oven door and admire your handiwork. When the oven

temperature fluctuates, you're only increasing the likelihood of a dry bird. About

45 minutes before you think the turkey is done, remove the foil from the breast to

allow it to brown.

8. Remove the turkey from the oven when the deepest spot between the leg and the

breast reads 180 degrees F on an instant-read thermometer. Check the internal temperature

of the stuffing as well; it should be at least 165 degrees.

9. Tent the bird with foil and let rest for about 15 minutes before carving. If you

need more time to make gravy, heat up side dishes, etc., you can let the turkey set

for up to an hour without losing too much heat.

10. Remember to carve your turkey with a very sharp or electic knife.

computers, technology, shows, web sites

What a wonderful surprise i found in my in box today.

I am known as a jr geek around these parts. I really enjoy  everything to do with  computers.

There are  several excellent computer shows that i listen to online. I  highly recommend them for those   who are beginners, and  those who   are passionate like me with all things  technology.

Here are my faves:

www.kimkomando.com

www.leoville.com

www.intotomorrow.com

www.computeramerica.com

As i was  scrolling down to read my e mails i noticed a subject line that said your are a  winner, and it was from one of the computer shows that i listen to.

Before i opened it i made sure that my screen reader wasn't like going crazy on me.  I was kind of uncertain to open this e mail because it could be some spoof e mail  from a spammer.

Then i scrolled back up to have my screen reader whos  name by the way is charlie to read to me the subject line again, and again, and once again.  Now about 15 minutes have already gone by, and i still havn't opened this e mail.   My poor fingers were already tired of doing  the shimmy shake of  going up and down with my keys.  I finally MUSTARD UP SOME COURAGE to open this e mail, but first i was going to call on the troops called  nsc, or better known to all the pc as the norton security  center  to stand by  in case of any attack when i clicked  open the e mail.

Norton was now ready, and my finger was positioned to hit the enter key.

Tum tum tum tummmm….

I closed my eyes tight as i hit the key. Hey!  did it matter i am in the dark anyway.

Well i am just trying to break the tention here .  Lets get back to the story.

Charlie my screen reader  began to read the finally opened e mail, and everything seemed ok   Because Norton did not start to scan the e mail for viruses.   I now felt some  relief, and  my once tense fingers moved around the keyboard with more confidence.

Since I had already  confronted my fears now I was very curious to know what this e mail was all about.

I then position the blinking cursor, and just let Charlie the screen reader do  its thing.

As I started to hear the e mail a big kool aid smile slowly  began to form on my face. When the voice went silent which indicated the end of the email. I suddenly screamed with  excitement the words ‘ I can believe it’ I really won! I wasn’t exspecting any email like this from this computer show.at the moment i remembered that i recently got an  email from  them to reply to continue receving there Newsletter, since there was a deadline I quickly went to there web site to confirm, but I was having lots of problems  navigating on there site due to all the graphics, As Always I couldn’t find that darn submit button.

I then decided to write the host a short, but sweet e mail.

Wow! to my surprise the host of the show into tomorrow read   that same e mail on the air, and I was awarded a mystery prize.

This really made my day.

I hope your day is filled with wonderful surprises too!

Hi

My friends I am so excited about Posterous.  i have finally found a place that I can call home, and know that i wont be locked out  and thrown back into cyber space again.

Being a blind person on the internet has been hard  these past years   due to     features  implemented by web masters  known as the capcha code, or just simply web sites that aren't accessible at all.

What is a capcha you might ask?

A CAPTCHA, or Completely Automated Public Turing-test to tell Computers and Humans Apart, is used to keep Bots and other automated programs from signing up for offers, collecting or signing up for email addresses, violating privacy, trying to crack passwords, or sending out spam to unsuspecting email recipients.

Read on http://www.wisegeek.com/what-is-a-captcha.htm

I understand that  the web sites have to  keep the  spammers from doing there malicious things  , but what many web builders are not understanding is that they are also   shutting out the blind community from participating on the internet too!  We also want that chance to ride on that wave of what is hot right now on the internet that is known as web 2.0.

I want to be honest  there are many times i really get so Frustrated because i want to be in the cutting edge of what is happening on the net, but there are still many web sites  that are just not   understanding our needs. Every time i check out a new web site   its such a challenge for me, and by the time i learn how to navigate the page all of my time is basically gone.

This is for all the web masters, average Joes, and Janes out there! Hey take a  moment  and just  close your eyes to experience  how  i see the world wide web in darkness, and just try to find your way around the internet. Maybe now you can understand the struggles we face online each day.  Always appreciate the things you have, and never take it for granted.

Click on the audio How we see the web.

Now with Posterous i have the opportunity to blog about everything that is on my mind. I am limited to what i can do on line  so my blog will not be like those  that is  customized, and fancy.  On the other hand, what you see is what you will  get according to my world of darkness. This is how i do things as a blind person online using a screen reader.

Screen Readers are primarily used by individuals with visual impairments, and its  a software program that reads the contents of the screen aloud to a user.

With my blind blog i would like for you to come along on my journey, and experience all my blind  realities.  At the same time  be a part of how i start up my  first online business called My Power Mall.  I will take you step by step  on how I build my business from the ground up.  Moreover, I will share with you valuable  information that i find around the internet, inspiring music, videos, and pictures that    say a thousand words, and  hope  that it can be a source of motivation, and empowermentfor your life.

I know that   building a business is not an easy task, but i am determined to give it all my best   as well in the other areas of my life.

I am determined to be a passionaire, and when I reach my success one day it will be to serve.

When we are motivated by the desire to sell, we are only looking out for ourselves.

When we are motivated by the desire to serve, we are looking out for others. Miracles shift us from a sales to a service mentality.

Your support will be greatly appreciated, and your comments are always welcomed.  Lets be social, and network together.

Have a wonderful day
